Feature Pages Walking

There are a vast range of walking opportunities in the Brecon Beacons - wild upland walks compete with deep valleys highlighted by lakes, streams and everywhere dramatic views.

If you like walking then The Brecon Beacons National Park can offer walking in locations you have dreamed of: There are strolls that you can do with friends and family of any age and there are long distance hikes that only the fittest will relish. Mountains, lakes, gentle hills, canal tow paths, riverside strolls, town trails, wildlife walks taking in 12 nature reserves, as well as routes for those with limited mobility.

For those looking for walking holiday there is The Beacons Way – a 100-mile linear walk taking 8 days between Abergavenny & Llangadog, the route is well documented & has been published with suggested accommodation along the way.

Another marathon route would be to walk the Epynt way, 90km of spectacular walking on the little known northern edge of the Park.

The Epynt Way team were awarded the Silver Otter Award for outstanding contributions to conservation, public access and heritage on MOD Estates. On the eastern boundary of the National Park is the Offa’s Dyke path. The Taff Trail will bring you into the central Beacons from Cardiff whilst The Usk Valley walk brings you up through the lovely vale of Usk from Caerleon.

Local tourist information centres as well as individual communities & towns all stock local walking information and the wardens at the National Park as well as volunteers of the Brecon Beacons Park Society, lead guided walks throughout the year, information on these walks can be found on the events calendar.
