Exhilarating routes for beginners or experts. Give your bike some REAL mountains!
The Brecon Beacons is biking heaven and whether you want a route with plenty of views and atmosphere or a gnarly single track, you just found somewhere to play.
Brecon Beacons National Park boasts some of the UK's finest mountain biking, with a huge network of varied trails that offer something for everybody from complete beginner to real experts.
There are a huge choice of options for building up your own route but if you are feeling lazy or just want to try an established route there are sixteen of the best available. You can ride open forests, struggle up loose and steep climbs, weave down some wonderful descents and find some of the steepest and most challenging drops.
Whether you want bone shaking moorland or gentle spins through stunning countryside you'll find it.
If 16 routes are not enough to choose from then head for the mountain bike route at Brechfa Forest, north of Llandeilo. Brechfa Forest offers superb mountain biking with one of the routes, The Gorech Trail, providing a hard, fast route on an all-weather surface suitable for proficient mountain bikers with good off-roading skills.
All three of the forest routes put Brechfa firmly on the MTB Wales map as another top destination. There is also The Cwm Rhaeadr Trail, north east from the Brechfa Forest - another difficult mountain biking route which delivers stunning views and quality single track riding. Expect a wide range of climbs and descents of a challenging nature as well as boardwalks, berms, large rocks, medium steps, drop-offs, cambers and water crossings.
