Bwlch with Altitude, Fortitude & Magnitude! Walking breaks in the Brecon Beacons ...for 2012 events see details in right hand panel

'Bwlch with Altitude' is an energetic 12 mile circular walk with 360 degree views of Llangors Lake.

You will climb two hills - thats the altitude bit - starting and ending at the hospitable bunkhouses and pub in Bwlch (pronounced Boolkh).

Bwlch with Fortitude was launched in 2011 and is a 7.5 miles circular walk joining the villages of Bwlch, Cwmdu & Tretower.

Watch the video to give you a flavour of the Fortitude walk!

You will travel through the Neolithic, Iron, Roman, Medieval and Victorian ages which are evident by the monuments and buildings left by people from the past.

Most of the walk is on quiet country lanes and old drovers’ roads with the last section travelling through fields and over small streams.

The full details are here

Day One - Arrive
Arrive in the village of Bwlch (where English vowels are barred), enjoy a meal at The New Inn Pub and sleep the night away at Beacons Backpackers or The Star Bunkhouse.

Day Two - Walk (day)
Set out with compass, map and GPS if you are hunting for the geocaches located along the route.
Take a packed lunch, you could visit the village shop "The Gate Shop" and pick up some local food and drink to enjoy en route.

If doing the Fortitude walk, be sure to pop in at Tretower Court & Castle, if you take the leaflet you will get 10% off entry!

Day two- Relax (evening)
Put your feet up around the real log fire in the New Inn and sample some local ales and food.
Treat yourself to a Penderyn Whisky and get to know some of the local characters...there's plenty of them!

Day three - depart
Stroll down to the Gate Shop, pick up the morning paper and browse for gifts to take home. There are lovely sets of Penderyn Whisky and local made conserves and cakes.
Ask Dave, Jan or Rob for their special eggs!
Then head for home.

Or pop up to the Welsh Venison Centre & shop for some special Welsh gifts (closed Sundays).

Along the Altitude route
A great welcome awaits you in Llangors & Llangasty Church where energy bars and Brecon Carreg water have been left by the parishioners just in case you are in need of refreshment.
Do sign the visitors book to let us know what you think about the walk so far!

Along the Fortitude walk.
Visit Tretower Castle built in 1093 and Tretower court built 1450, they are brimming with history!
